On the 6th of June, Visser & van Baars will release the first public brand-independent meet-up on data virtualization in the Netherlands.
In the past three years, several Dutch enterprises implemented datavirtualization in order to reduce costs and complexity within the traditional data-environment while enabling realtime access to sources via ‘a virtual layer’.
Gartner believes the amount of enterprise-users will increase to 35% in 2020, and even more significantly in the following years. Therefore, we invited companies who are recognized as pioneers on data virtualization implementation in The Netherlands, to share their stories on behalf of their company.

Stephen Kil: ‘Erasmus shares the perks and burdens of being Denodo’s early adopter’
Erasmus MC bought the Denodo platform near the beginning of 2016 and is widely regarded as one of the first implementors of Datavirtualization in The Netherlands. Stephen has been responsible for writing the journey which led to the official launch in 2017, he shall describe the perks and burdens of being an early Denodo adapter and will provide a forecast on the future of datavirtualization for datadriven companies in The Netherlands.
Edwin Terink: ‘Power to the data-owner, freedom for the data-consumer’
Edwin Terink is Portfoliomanager BI at Schiphol Group and has been responsible for their Red Hat implementation in the past 15 months. The ‘go live’ of January 2019 was celebrated accordingly, because the new environment supports the airport’s vision of agile, self-service processes and vendor flexibility that help its IT teams quickly and efficiently develop and deploy new customer-facing services. Edwin will discuss the benefits of Red Hat he identified during their journey, including one of the greatest advantages in terms of datagovernance; ‘power to the data-owner, freedom for the data-consumer’.
